Are You Ready for January 2027?
A free, four page checklist for small employers, in plain English.
The Employment Rights Act 2025 is changing the rules for every employer in England, Scotland and Wales. From 1 January 2027, staff can claim unfair dismissal after six months instead of two years, and there is no longer a cap on compensation. Our checklist takes you through what is already in force, what is arriving now and what to prepare for, with a box to tick for each step.
What's inside?
The key dates at a glance, then six short sections to work through: the changes in force since April 2026, longer time limits for tribunal claims, the new duty to prevent harassment, unfair dismissal after six months, trade union rights and “fire and rehire”, and what is coming later in 2027.
Want a hand?
If you would rather someone checked it for you, our free HR Health Check reviews your contracts, policies and processes and gives you clear recommendations on what to update before January. Prefer to read first? See our guide to the Employment Rights Act 2025.
